Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
